Die Reportage blickt hinter die Kulissen eines kleinen Baumarktes, der angesichts der neu entstandenen großen Konkurrenz um die Existenz zu kämpfen hat. Und sie begleitet Hobbytüftler bei ihrem emsigen Treiben im Eigenheim oder auf der Datsche. Nicht immer geht dabei alles glatt. Wenn der Hammer den Daumen und nicht den Nagel trifft, wenn die eben montierte Regalwand wieder herunterkommt - nichts kann die Heimwerker aus der Ruhe bringen. Sie sind eben hammerhart.

But many a wife already climbs onto the roof when the household budget has to cope with the purchases of the very latest angle grinder. The reportage takes a look behind the scenes of a small DIY store that is struggling to survive in the face of new competition. And she accompanies amateur tinkerers in their busy hustle and bustle in their own homes or on the dachshund. It doesn't always go smoothly. If the hammer hits the thumb and not the nail, if the shelf wall comes down again - nothing can disturb the do-it-yourselfers. They're just awesome.
