  • German SummaryDieser Farb-Dokumentarfilm berichtet über das Leben von Menschen in der DDR die mit Würde alt werden wollen. Durch eine gut geführte Kamera und einen einfühlsamen Schnitt werden uns fünf verschiedene Personen aus dem Schweriner Bezirk vorgestellt, sie erzählen von ihren früheren Berufen und ihren Beweggründen, warum sie in Feierabendheimen ihren "Lebensabend" verbringen möchten. Interessante Einblicke werden offen gelegt über die Freizeitgestaltung der Rentnerinnen und Rentner, aber auch über ihre Tätigkeiten, die sie nach dem Beginn der Rente noch vollziehen. Erkennbar wird, die Erfahrungen der älteren Bürger fließen in die Gemeinschaft ein und viele Jugendgruppen erkennen dies und helfen den einsamen Alten, die nicht in Gemeinschaften leben, durch Hausbesuche und tägliche Einkäufe. Der Film bestätigt einmal mehr, nach der Verfassung der DDR gehört den Alten besondere Aufmerksamkeit und Liebe da sie durch ihre lange Arbeitszeit und ihr Leben die Fürsorge und Betreuung erworben haben.
  • English SummaryThis colour documentary film reports about the life of people in the GDR who want to grow old with dignity. Five different people from the Schwerin district are introduced to us through a well-guided camera and a sensitive cut. They tell us about their former professions and their motivations why they want to spend their "retirement" in retirement homes. Interesting insights are revealed about the leisure activities of pensioners, but also about their activities, which they still carry out after the start of retirement. It becomes apparent that the experiences of the elderly are being fed into the community and many youth groups recognise this and help the lonely elderly who do not live in communities through home visits and daily shopping. The film once again confirms that according to the constitution of the GDR, special attention and love belongs to the elderly because they have acquired care and support through their long working hours and their lives.
