German SummaryAm 21. April 1929 findet auf dem Marktplatz der kleinen Bergarbeiterstadt Gerbstedt im Mansfelder Kupferrevier die feierliche Übergabe einer Fahne statt. Ein Solidaritätsgeschenk der Bergleute aus Kriwoj Rog an ihre Klassenbrüder. Der Häuer Otto Brosowski, Funktionär der KPD, nimmt sie in seine Obhut, und sie fehlt bei keiner Demonstration der Arbeiter - bis zur Machtergreifung der Nazis. Diese erkennen die Gefahr, die von der Symbolkraft der Fahne ausgeht, und wollen sie in ihre Hände bekommen. Doch keine Verfolgung, Folter und Haft kann die Bergleute, ihre Familien und Verbündeten dazu bringen, die Fahne "auszuliefern". Brosowski hatte geschworen, sie in ein sozialistisches Deutschland zu tragen. Im Juli 1945 verlassen die Amerikaner das Mansfelder Gebiet und die Truppen der Roten Armee marschieren ein - Gerbstedter Genossen ziehen ihnen mit der Fahne aus Kriwoj Rog entgegen.

English SummaryOn 21 April 1929, the ceremonial handover of a flag took place on the market square of the small miners' town of Gerbstedt in the Mansfeld copper district. A gift of solidarity from the miners of Kriwoj Rog to their class brothers. The häuer Otto Brosowski, functionary of the KPD, takes her into his care, and she is not missing from any demonstration of the workers - until the Nazis seize power. They recognize the danger posed by the symbolic power of the flag and want to get their hands on it. But no persecution, torture and imprisonment can bring the miners, their families and allies to "extradite" the flag. Brosowski had sworn to carry her into a socialist Germany.
