German SummaryEin böser Müller möchte durch ein Wunder reich werden. Der Müllergeselle Hans hält es bei dem Meister nicht mehr aus. Er geht auf Wanderschaft und findet Aufnahme in einer heruntergekommenen Mühle, in der nur noch die Müllerin lebt. Mit viel Fleiß und Mühe gelingt es Hans, die Mühle zu einem gutgehenden Unternehmen zu machen. Als Dank erhält er von seiner Dienstherrin einen Wunschring. Nun kehrt Hans zu seinem alten Meister zurück um seine Gretel zu heiraten. Der Müller bringt den Ring heimlich an sich. Als Hans und seine Gretel die Mühle verlassen haben, wünscht er sich hunderttausend Taler. Sein Wunsch wird erfüllt, doch die Last des Geldes bringt das Haus zum Einsturz und begräbt die Müllersleute unter sich.

English SummaryAn evil miller wants to get rich by a miracle. The journeyman miller Hans can't stand it anymore with the master. He goes on wanderings and finds admission in a run-down mill, in which only the miller's wife lives. With much diligence and effort, Hans succeeds in turning the mill into a flourishing enterprise. In gratitude, he receives a wish ring from his employer. Now Hans returns to his old master to marry his Gretel. The miller secretly takes the ring. When Hans and his Gretel have left the mill, he wants a hundred thousand thalers. His wish is fulfilled, but the burden of money causes the house to collapse and buries the millers among themselves.
