German SummaryDer parteilose Heinz Solter, Ingenieur eines Energieversorgungsbetriebes, wird fristlos entlassen und steht vor dem Untersuchungsrichter. An einer von ihm abgenommenen Ferngasleitung gab es bei starkem Frost eine Havarie. Solter wird grobe Fahrlässigkeit, wenn nicht gar Sabotage angelastet. Er weist die Schuld von sich. Der anfangs gegen ihn eingenommene Untersuchungsrichter beschließt, den Fall im Betrieb aufzurollen. Es stellt sich heraus, daß Solter die Abnahme wider besseres Wissen auf Anweisung der Betriebsleitung vorgenommen hat. Für Direktor Faber stehen Planerfüllung, Erfolg und seine eigene Karriere an erster Stelle. Die Untersuchung des Falles führt zu heftigen Auseinandersetzungen im Betrieb, in deren Verlauf die Leitungs- und Arbeitsmethoden Fabers schonungsloser Kritik ausgesetzt sind. Immer mehr Mitarbeiter stellen sich auf die Seite Solters. Es kommt zur Rücknahme der Anklage.

English SummaryThe independent Heinz Solter, engineer of an energy supply company, is dismissed without notice and stands before the examining magistrate. A long-distance gas pipeline removed by him was damaged during severe frost. Solter is blamed for gross negligence, if not sabotage. He rejects the guilt. The examining magistrate who was initially appointed against him decides to roll up the case in the company. It turns out that Solter has carried out the acceptance test against better knowledge on the instructions of the management. For Director Faber, fulfilling plans, success and his own career are top priorities. The investigation of the case leads to fierce disputes within the company, in the course of which Faber's management and working methods are exposed to relentless criticism. More and more employees are taking Solter's side. The indictment will be withdrawn.
