German SummaryDie elfjährige Jella zieht mit ihrer Mutter vom Dorf in ein Neubaugebiet in die Stadt, wo ihr Vater arbeitet. Sie freut sich auf das Neue. Ihr Freund Freitag schenkt ihr zum Abschied ein Pärchen Brieftauben. Das neue Leben jedoch ist für Jella enttäuschend. Der Vater hat wenig Zeit für sie, die anderen Kinder hänseln sie wegen der Tauben, ein Nachbarjunge läßt sie sogar fliegen. Freitag bringt sie zurück. Eines Tages entschließt sich Jella, wieder ins Dorf zu fahren. Doch dort hat sich inzwischen auch einiges verändert, sie fühlt sich fremd. Die Tauben stellt sie bei Freitag ab, der inzwischen andere Freunde gefunden hat. Als sie in die Stadt zurückkommt, sind die beiden Tauben bereits da. Sie wissen, wo ihr Zuhause ist.

English SummaryEleven-year-old Jella and her mother move from the village to a new development in the city where her father works. She's looking forward to the new. Her boyfriend Friday gives her a pair of carrier pigeons to say goodbye. The new life, however, is disappointing for Jella. The father has little time for them, the other children tease them about the pigeons, a neighbour boy even lets them fly. Friday brings her back. One day Jella decides to go back to the village. But a lot has changed there in the meantime, she feels strange. She turns off the pigeons at Friday, who has found other friends in the meantime. When she comes back to town, the two pigeons are already there. They know where their home is.

Original SummaryA undici anni Jella si trasferisce con la mamma in città, per ricongiungersi con il padre. Congedandosi, Freitag, amico di Jella, le regala una coppia di piccioni viaggiatori. In città la vita è molto diversa da come la bambina se l'era immaginata: il padre ha poco tempo per lei e i compagni la prendono in giro per via dei piccioni. Un giorno Jella decide di ritornare al suo paese, dove, nel frattempo, le cose sono cambiate, facendola sentire un'estranea. Jella lascia a Freitag i due piccioni, ma rientrando in città, li ritroverà a casa. Gli animali sanno dov'è la loro casa. (Italienisch)
