The first chapter shows the city of Rostock, the second chapter reports about Heinz Zerber at the Neptunwerft, the third chapter about the kindergarten in the district "Lütt Klein", which Rosi Zerber leads, the fourth chapter about the parents of Heinz Zerber living in the countryside, the fifth chapter deals with the "desire to learn" among young and old, the sixth chapter shows the 10th wedding anniversary of the family Zerber, and in the last and 7th chapter the house community of the family Zerber is introduced. The film thus becomes an attempt to portray the Zerber family, their environment and their role as citizens of the GDR.
